Almost October

The fall colors are fabulous.  Here are just a few of the trees changing color here in our neighborhood.

A Good Start to Our Weekend

Working from home on Friday has many perks.
  • Rolling out of bed two hours later than other mornings during the week and not even getting in the car to get to work
  • Having the laptop right there waiting for e-mail answers, meeting updates and business requirement reviews
  • And not needing to pick out the proper outfit and accessories to wear for work at the office
  • If I'm really lucky, some else has already made coffee and it's there waiting for me
It also gives me an opportunity to have someone clean the house - bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms and floors without feeling guilty because I'm doing my project and they are doing theirs.

I found someone to help with the cleaning a month ago and it is so nice to have everything organized and cleaned before the start of the weekend.  Now what will I do without all that cleaning hanging over my head all weekend (which I usually don't get done but still feel guilty about).

Pretty good - oops, there's still paperwork to file and more organizing.
I can live with that!  The floors are clean.  What more could a woman want for now?
You all have a fun and relaxing weekend too.

A Day of Making Cards

Last Saturday was another day for a road trip up to Pine City and our monthly Card Class with Jessica.
Here are a few of my favorites:

Later that day, back in the Twin Cities, we made more cards - this time for Halloween.
And speaking of Halloween, October is almost here and the Fall leaves are showing their true colors already.
This tree is right outside our front window
The leaves are almost gone but the red berries are now showing.  No, we do not eat these.

Cruising Down the Mississippi

I spent Tuesday afternoon on the Mississippi River with co-workers from Red Wing Shoe Company.  It was a beautiful, cool, sunny afternoon and just perfect for a cruise down the river.  There was a wonderful buffet lunch served, a couple games and lots of time to just relax and enjoy an afternoon outside before winter makes it home in Minnesota soon.

The trees are just beginning to change.

Sarah Has a New Car

Sarah recently said 'good-by' to her Volkswagon Jetta.  It was there for her through her college years. It took her out to California and almost back in 2008.  In March of 2009, she drove it back from California through a Denver snowstorm all the way to Minneapolis.  She moved to Florida and back in 2011 in that Jetta.  It has survived yet one last Minnesota winter in 2011 - 2012.  Sarah and the Jetta have been on many adventures and traveled over 50,000 miles together.
Sarah this summer with the infamous blue Jetta.

Here is the new car she just purchased in September.  It's a 2010 silver Honda Civic.

Best wishes for safe travels and many fun road trips!

Scrapfest Weekend

ScrapFest at Mall of America this year was fun.  Ryn and I stood in line all Saturday morning to do a few make and takes before lunch.

I had a 1 pm Christmas Card Class. Christine was in the same workshop.  We made some really cute cards with lots of adorable supplies left over to use later.

Extra supplies to use.

After class I headed out to stand in more lines and do more make-n-takes.  I stood in line for over 60 minutes to do this one:
This took 5 minutes to complete.

My last class was at 5 pm.  Class was just ok.  I was exhausted after so went home right after.  Here is the kit we received and worked on.
And that was the end of my wonderful Scrapfest day for this year.

Our Last Big House

The neighborhood near our last four-bedroom house in Savage has grown.  To keep the trees in that yard a path was developed on the side before the new houses.  Way to go neighborhood!

The big tree and our previous home.  Both are still looking good!

Minnesota State Fair

Sarah, Ryn and I went to the state fair today.  It was very hot and crowed.  We enjoyed the food and the booths and the shuttle to and from the fair grounds.

Some of us at the fair.

On the bus again to go home.

It was so hot.  I want water - to drink and to pour over my head.  Lots of walking so I came home and put my feet up for awhile.
Did you get to your state fair this year?

Reading for Fun

I just finished the third book in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay today.  I enjoyed the series and devoured the last two books recently.  I read the first Hunger Games book earlier this summer but didn't see the movie until it came out in DVD in August.  The book and the movie together made more sense so I picked up the second book. Catching Fire and read that is one week.  I had to order the third book on my Nook the same day I finished the second.  There were some great surprises at the end of book two and book three.  You need to read them too.  Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
